Practical Tips for Life
Good Morning. Well, it's morning time when writing this article. I was having a great night's sleep when my wife woke up early to go for a run. You know when you fall back asleep like that, you always have vivid dreams. I'm not going to divulge my dreams, but one of my thoughts was to write an article of the practical things I do to live a better life. Here is the list:
- Cancel Your Cable TV - My family did this years ago to save a ton of money and to remove the negative influence of what cables has to offer. We didn't cancel it completely, we still get Basic Cable for about $10 month. We supplement what we missed from cable with Netflix. The beauty of Netflix is we can watch the show when we want, with no commercials and we can monitor what the children watch.
- You are What you Eat - We've all heard that, but to take it a step further, You are What You Think. Thought become actions. Actions become habits. How do you come up with thoughts? Well, you get influenced by the music you listen too, TV you watch, people you hang out with, things you read online, and books and magazines you read. Focus your energy on being influence on positive resources. Surround yourself with good people. Listen to great music, that uplifts you, inspires, and helps you through a tough time. I listen to KLOVE radio on my commute. Swallow that healthy food, music, blog article, tv documentary, and pass on negativity, fearful news reporting, cool, but really not cool, friends that are doing bad things.
- Be Nice and Charitable - Stress is the leading cause of illness in this world, ahead of toxic substance, smoking, food, etc. The best way to alleviate stress is by doing something good for someone else. It is truly a win-win moment when see someone in needs and you provide for them. Being kind to someone in need is actually more of a gift for you that the receiver. You feel amazing when you do it. You feel happy and stress is lowered. The more good you spread, the better you will feel. God created you. God created everything. What you have is from God, a God you loves you. He wants you, out of your own free will, to spread goodness and love to others. Do it. It will save your life. This is a great story of someone saving lives and a good cause to support. I did.
- Live Below Your Means - many of the burdens of life all stem from financial concerns. Our society encourages us to buy things to be happy. This idea is so wrong, and I for one thought it was true. We get suck into an endless cycle of buy things, feeling good for a very short time, feeling sad, and then buying more things to be happy again, repeating the cycle. All this buying requires money and or credit. Most of us are not independently wealthy, so we charge it. We then have this burden of loans, bills, credit cards over our head, causing us to be unhappy. Please, cut out the unnecessary luxuries in life. Drive your eight year old card another five year. I'm still driving my 97 VW Golf. I bought it in October 96 and it has 225K miles on it. I mentioned earlier cut you cable, use coupons, bring left overs to work for lunch, live a humble simple life. You can do it. Save your money for retirement and that rainy day. You'll feel free, happy and back in control.
- Have Faith in God and Pray! - God will provide. He loves you. Put your faith in him. Like I said earlier, You are What you Think, and what better way to think then by praying. Thanks God for his blessing in your life. Pray for those who need God's help. Sit quietly and listen to God. He will work wonders for you. He always does.
